Right Rev. Economos Romanos (Russo), a member of the forum, who posted as Economos Romanos V Russo, entered into eternal life on June 8, after a health incident the day prior. Father Romanos was a priest of the Eparchy of Newton of the Melkites which he faithfully served since his ordination to the diaconate some 49 years ago. As well as serving a number of Melkite parishes, he frequently assisted the clergy of St Michael's Byzantine Russian Catholic Community in NYC through the 1980s and early 1990s. He was named as Rector of St Michael's in the miid-1990s, a role he held until retiring in 2016. Father was a very learned man, a very personable individual, and a dedicated priest. He leaves his wife, Frances and two sons, both of whom are Readers.
In your charity, please remember him in prayer.
O God of all spiritual and corporeal beings, You Who trampled death, broke the power of Satan and granted life to the whole world, now, O Lord, grant rest to the soul of Your departed servant, the Priest Romanos, in a place of light, freshness, and peace, where there is neither pain, nor sorrow, nor mourning, but only life everlasting.
As You are a gracious God and the Lover of mankind, forgive him every transgression committed by him in word, thought, or deed, since there is no man alive who has not sinned, for You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life, O Christ our God, and we render glory to You, together with Your Eternal Father, and Your most Holy, gracious, and life-giving Spirit, now and always and forever.
May the memory of our brother forumite, Father Economos Romanos, be eternal and blessed and may his wife, Frances, his sons, grandchildren, and all of his loved ones be comforted in the prayerful expectation of being reunited with him in Heaven.
