Today, July 17, the Russian Orthodox Church and other Orthodox Churches commemorate the Royal Passionbearers Tsar Nicholas, Tsaritsa Alexandra, Tsarevich Aleksy, Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia.
Although their remains have yet to be recognized by the Moscow Patriarchate, a few Orthodox communities have acquired first-class relics (bone fragments) of the passionbearers, placing them in icons for public veneration. These relics were acquired through connections with the laboratories that tested and identified the remains.
