It’s important to understand that Zelenskyy is trying to gain access to NATO.
Trump knew this but could not allow it to happen. If Ukraine joins NATO, the U.S. would be bound by NATO’s collective defense agreement—an attack on one is an attack on all. Ukraine joining NATO now is not just a straw-man but a straw giant. It would not have the approval of the US and Hungary at the least, so it is not relevant to the present. Now consider the larger implications: Ukraine and Russia despise each other. If Ukraine were to become a NATO member, any future skirmish between them would obligate the U.S. to enter into direct conflict with Russia. OK, a what if? What would be the scenario of a "future skirmish"? This would mean World War III. And if that happened, China would have to choose a side—they would almost certainly align with Russia. Trump also invoked WWIII against Zelensky. How does that happen in the current situation? I'd really like to hear President Trump elaborate and maybe he will in the State of the Union Address. That is really big stuff. But how does WWIII start? Who is going to start the WWIII that you or Pres.Trump envision? Russia is a superpower with nukes and Ukraine is not. Yet Russia the aggressor needs to "bring in a ringer" and there's no issue? The US estimates 10,000 North Korean troops active in Ukraine. What about some comparable (not necessarily US) support for Ukraine?

Were the Ukrainians eating the pets, running gangs of rapists and drug dealers too? https://www.reuters.com/world/us/tr...ians-who-fled-us-sources-say-2025-03-06/WASHINGTON, March 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is planning to revoke temporary legal status for some 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia, a senior Trump official and three sources familiar with the matter said, potentially putting them on a fast-track to deportation.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-wont-resume-ukraine-military-141250828.htmlU.S. President Donald Trump has privately made it clear to his aides that he will not resume providing military aid and intelligence to Ukraine even if Kyiv and Washington sign a minerals deal, NBC News reported on March 9, citing an unnamed Trump administration official and another American official.

Zelenky has overplayed his hand with the American taxpayer. He is living in a fantasy world. This exact phrase was stated to me by local friend, so I know it's a right-wing media talking point reiterated over and over on FoxNews, OANN, and others. It actually makes no sense at all - Zelensky isn't playing a hand and never addressed the paying or delivery of taxes in the US. The materials sent to Ukraine was manufactured by American workers, so all it did was create jobs for US workers. How did it negatively affect the US taxpayer when most of the funds were spent in the US, by the US, and supplied the Ukrainians to support US interests to decimate the Russian military? It seemed to be amazingly effective and showed Russia to be a weak puppet regime.

The current leadership has had it in for Zelenskyy since the famous " perfect phone call" ......Zelenskyy hasn't "overplayed his hand with the the American taxpayer". He is just not that familiar with how to navigate a leadership driven by ego instead of democratic ideals. Of course, Putin, being KGB schooled, is extremely good at this. Here is the background........... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump%E2%80%93Ukraine_scandal#:~:text=Contacts%20were%20established%20between%20the,Zelenskyy%20on%20July%2025%2C%202019.
