Dear friends,
Yesterday I had the chance to attend and out door Liturgy celebrated by our Patriarch. The Liturgy was celebrated in a small Ukie-Brazilian village called "Iracema" This area was colonized by Ukrainians in the 1890s. Due to heavy rainfall on Saturday evening and making access very difficult to this area (no asphalt)just dirt road, there were about 2500 people at the Liturgy. If it hadn't rained I believe that the numbers would have trippled.
I didn't get a chance to greet him, at least not yet. I really wanted to, but to be honest with you,I didn't want to bother him. He was being greeted by young kids and old babas,(the people who live in this area are very poor and simple, some of them don't have adequate clothing nor shoes and they do not have much cultural background either and I don't really think they knew who he was, but they knew that he was someone special). I think these special people deserve a special blessing from a special person. I guess I'll just have to wait.

Dear Herb,
Patriarch Husar has been traveling around and visiting Ukie communities that are spred out throughout the state of Paran (Southern region of Brazil). I believe that official news of his visit will start to appear in a couple of days.
Can't give you much feedback I'm afraid.

Dear Herb,

If Lauro doesn't watch out, if he asks Husar for "Studiti" in Ukrainian, the Patriarch may get the impression that Lauro thinks it's cold in Brazil . . . wink

(The word could be mistaken for another meaning that.)

And all Lauro may get then is the promise that the Studite nuns will knit and send him some sweaters!

When Patriarch LUBOMYR was in Detroit last June shortly before the consecration of Bishop RICHARD I had the audacity to bother him at a fundraising dinner, and I'll never regret it. I have never had such a holy experience in my life. The Patriarch was kind, calm, loving, and very approachable.

God Bless Patriarch LUBOMYR!

This is the Brazilian Ukie Orthodox site. The Ukie Greek Catholics still don't have one.

Just found out today that during Patriarch Lubomyr's visit to Brazil,Archmandrite of the Basilian order Fr. Dionisio Liahovitch had a meeting where one of the topics that were discussed was the possibility of bringing Studite monks to Brazil. Now that's really good news and at first I had a hard time believing it as well. That really made my day.

Dear Lauro,

So that was a "Clint Eastwood" moment for you?

I mean, he really "made your day?" smile

Dear Alex,
I guess you could say so. I hope this works out. There will be a lot of work for them. The Basilians are thinking of inviting them over let's say to show us a more eastern form of spirituality. Let's wait and see what happens.

It would solve many problems...Podai, Hospody!

Gaudior, to whom the above was not addressed, but who hopes nonetheless that it is true...
