Dear All,
I'm looking specifically for two books. I've seen and read a little about both on the internet in times path, even on Amazon.com, but can't seem to find the books now. One is an Orthodox book concerning itself with the Jewish roots of Orthodox worship, and the other is a Catholic book detailing the roots of the Catholic Mass in the Jewish Temple sacrifices.
Does anyone here know the titles of either of these books? I can't find them anywhere, and I've been searching Google for a good twenty minutes.
Thanks, Logos Teen

Ireneaus,
Neither of the books you mentioned are the ones I was describing, but I'll be sure to take a look at them. Thanks for the suggestions.
DTBrown,
Yes, that is the Orthodox one I was speaking about. Thanks! Now, if I could only find the Catholic version along the same vein!

Teen,
Perhaps "The Incredible Catholic Mass: An Explanation of the Mass" - Father Martin von Cochem, OSF (Tan Publishing)? As I recollect, it's not the major thesis of the book, but it is discussed at some length.

Neil,
No, that's not the book in mind, but if push comes to shove I could always get that. I'm sure it'd be a great read. Thanks.
I can't find the book by searching Google, but I know it's out there. I couldn't find the Orthodox one either until Dave so kindly linked me.

Oh well. I bought eight books, including Orthodox Worship and The Incredible Catholic Mass. All these books should keep me busy for a while.

Logos Teen, You sure have a good interest here! The Jewish roots of our liturgy and faith fascinate me. And from an apologetic standpoint, one of the best defenses of the Catholic faith being apostolic is the Jewishness of it. "How Christ Said the First Mass," is not the Catholic book you were looking for? That's interesting. I don't know of any other Roman Catholic book that deals with the Jewish roots of the liturgy, other than Fr. Meagher's book. Well, when/if you find this other book, please tell us! I'm curious to know what it is. I read, "How Christ Said the First Mass," several months ago. It was incredible, and I still use it for reference. Good footnotes too. I'm currently finishing up, "The Incredible Catholic Mass." That is another good book and will change your perception of the Mass. Not much mention of the Jewishness of the Mass in it, though. As for, "Orthodox Worship," I hope to buy that book soon. Personally, I believe the Eastern Church maintains unique and in some cases more Jewish elements in her liturgies than the Latin Church does. (Including Tridentine). Happy reading! Pax, Adam

Hey kid- happy birthday. How about "The Great High Priest" subtitled "the temple roots of Christian liturgy" by Margaret Barker, from Continuum Books? I haven't read it but saw it in their catalog and thought it looked fascinating. Do you have a name or did your Methodist parents baptize you "Baby of the Incarnate Logos"?

Adam,
No, I really don't think "How Christ Said the First Mass" is the book I'm looking for. If I find what I'm searching for, I'll let you know.
Daniel,
My first name is Samuel, and my middle name is Garrett. Garrett is both my mother's maiden name and the name I go by.
Hm, and looking at this post, I just noticed that Adam, you, and I all have Old Testament names.

You know, I just read the customer reviews of "How Christ Said..." and actually I do think that's the book I was looking for. The name really threw me it off, I remember it as something different. There's still a little seed of doubt in my mind, but I guess this really is the book.
Thanks Adam and Neil.
