Has anyone gone through the anullment procedure? I am currently going through one now through the Byzantine Eparchy of Passaic. The last I was told is that it was sent to the Defender of the bond. Anyone have any idea the time frame from when the Defender of the Bond receives it until I get a final decision. My ex wife has remarried and I want to move on with my life. Any assistance who be greatly appreciated. God Bless and Thank You

Dear Madison,

No advice here, I'm only twenty, just prayers for you as you move on, that God will guide, strengthen, and heal you, and that Mary, Yoldath Aloho (Mother of God), will be your protectress and intercessor.

The timeframe can vary from place to place. In general it takes about a year from start to finish, but can sometimes be as short as a month for a documentary case to as long as...well, you don't want to know!

Dear Madison,
It depends on how clear the grounds for an annulment are in your particular case. As Fr Deacon Ed said, it can be as little as a month or up to and maybe even beyond a year.

What are the grounds that you have for an annulement. And is there any possiblity that what they call in the West a "vetitum" might be attached? That is a prohibition against further marriage. (Which could be either temporary or permanent.)

Praying for the best for you and especially God's healing in this situation.

Prepared to discuss this if you want to privately email me. Im not an expert in Canon Law either east or west but know a reasonable amount.

Fraternally,
Fr Stephanos
