slava Isusu Krystu!

since january i'm attending a liturgical spirituality at a Don Bosco center of Studies near my home and our topic is about the Holy Trinity. With that the most perfect icon for these is the icon of the Hospitality of Abraham.

Could anyone tell me more about the icon - history and its symbols. knowing that its an eastern Christian origin so you guys know this stuff and i could share it with the class.

thanks! God bless!

Here are some thoughts:

This from a composition/ theological standpoint. It should get you started.

There was an in-depth discussion on the Byz Forum titled, "Icon of the Holy Trinity" or words to that effect. It was quite a lively discussion, to be polite.

In short, Rublev broke longstanding interpretation of the Hospitality when he implied that it was a manifestation of the Holy Trinity and excluded Abraham and Sarah from the depiction.

My own vote for the best icon of the Trinity is with the Theophany icon. "When you were baptized in the Jordan, the worship of the Trinity was made manifest."

In Christ,
Andrew

Slava Isusu Krystu!

Thank you for your input on this topic. In agreement, the best Icon to illustrate the Holy Trinity is the Theophany (baptsm in the river jordan), but our class discussion is more focus on the communion that exist within them which Rublev's icon reflect...

Glory to God!
