Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
I'm new to the site.
I was wondering if the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Rite is pretty much the same in traditions as the Belarusian Greek Catholic Rite.
Does anyone know?
And a second question: What do you think of the prayerbook "My Divine Friend"?
In Our Lord, Chris

Chris,
The Slav Churches are all more or less similar, but I would guess that the Belarusins use the Russian Recension.
My Divine Friend has a lot of nice material but it is a product of its time and its theology is hopelessly latinized. I could not recommend using it as it does not reflect the mandate to return to our own traditions.

Chris, as Lance well put, "My Divine Friend" is showing its age now. But if you want the Church Slavonic texts for the common of Vespers, it is in there, suprisingly enough.
There are a lot of good prayer books more recently printed out there more attuned to the Byzantine liturgical tradition.
The Belarussian Church essentially uses the Russian ordo. There is a Belarussian church in Chicago (Christ the Redeemer) that was formerly a fire station that Bishop Tarasevich of blessed memory started. That is the only specifically "Belarussian" parish in existence in the USA. Some Belarussian Catholics in the USA attend Ukrainian Catholic parishes because of the language similarity.

There's a Belarussian Greek Catholic Mission in London. The parish is very Eastern, but the "low liturgy" that morning, wasn't : http://www.byzantines.net/belmission/
