The Matins of the Fifth Week of the Great Fast, in which is sung the Great Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete, is celebrated either on Wed. night, March 9, 2005, or on Thurs. morning, March 10, 2005.
The MCI is finishing today the booklet for this service. The booklet contains the ENTIRE text of the Great Canon, and everything you need to celebrate Matins. It contains all eight tones of the Hymns to the Trinity and the Hymns of Light sung on Thursdays, so that it is useable any year, without any additions.
I am sending you this notice because the cost of printing becomes much lower, the more books we have printed. I need 30 books for the seminary anyway. Fr. Ed Cymbala just called and ordered 25 for his parish. Does anyone else want to order? and can you please get back to me by today, and get your check in the mail today/tomorrow? The book is 100 pages; coil-bound with clear vinyl cover and black vinyl backing.
The things that are omitted from the service:
(1) only one of the Hexapsalmos is given;
(2) the 18th Kathisma is omitted;
(3) the life of St. Mary of Egypt is omitted;
(4) the Three-Canticled Canon for the Apostles is omitted.
Otherwise, you have the ENTIRE service (maybe more than you could ever use).
