Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him Forever! Dear friends, I believe that Fr. Seraphim Rose is a saint. I've read his, "The Soul After Death" book and agree with it completely. Fr. Seraphim Rose, pray for me! A sinner, Adam

The 'many' who believe Fr Seraphim Rose had some gnostic tendencies are few. St John of Shanghai blessed most of his work and Fr Seraphim faithfully followed the path of traditional Orthodoxy. Whether he is a saint, I do not know. He is very popular in Russia. I saw his books in almost every church bookstore. I don't personally want to resurrect the thread on the tollhouses, an image, which is in every liturgical text that I use as an Orthodox priest, but I do know that Fr Seraphim did everything under obedience - a virtue lacking in his critics.
May God grant Hieromonk Seraphim, Eternal Memory!

Fr Serafim www.fatherserafim.info [fatherserafim.info] For anyone concerned about Fr. Seraphim Rose's use of "Toll-Stations," the Orthodox were worried that it may be link to the Latin Doctrine of Purgatory. Being in union with Rome it may not be so troublesome.

I just bought the book "Letters from Father Seraphim" this past week and should be receiving it in a day or two. Has anyone else purchased a copy of this book? I am looking forward to reading it, as I have a great admiration for Blessed Father Seraphim, and count him as a true saint. I have only read excerpts of his writings, and now I'm going to get to read some of his letters of spiritual direction and so forth. Plus the book is supposed to have many photographs, which I also am looking forward to seeing. I also bought the book "Holy Russia in the Soviet Union", which I first learned about when I saw excerpts from the book in St. Ann's parish bulletin a few years ago when I started attending...and could do so regularly. Oh how I hope for that blessing again in the future . In Christ, Timothy, servant of God

Timothy Herman,
Glade to hear from you. I have not read the book you posted but did order The Soul After Death. Have you or anyone else read this book?

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him Forever! Dear Odo, I've read, "The Soul After Death" by Fr. Seraphim Rose. Really awesome book! I loved how he explained all the NDE (Near Death Experiences) of today. It really woke me up to the understanding that satan is alive and does deceive people everyday. The other parts of the book are nice also. Good purchase! A sinner, Adam

Dear Friends, The only thing that raised my ears, as an Orthodox Catholic in communion with Rome, was Bl. Seraphim's contention, as he wrote once, that Catholics are somehow blinded because of the lack of Grace that comes from separation from the Church . . . But other than that . . . Alex
