I know this is a somewhat strange question, but ... when a priest (either BC or RC) visits a patient who is hospitalized, is there a "generic" blessing they give the patient(s)?
Or, if anyone has been in the hospital and a hospital priest comes to bless them, what prayer did he give and how did he bless them?

In the Slavic tradition, the Great Book of Needs gives the priest several options, depending on the type and degree of illness (in addition to the Mystery of the Anointing of the Sick).

I'm a RC deacon and have visited many people in hospitals. On a scheduled visit I would bring the Eucharist with me and ask each patient I am visiting whether they would like to receive Holy Communion. Of course, I would try to find our first if they are practicing their faith, before asking. Usually with a few simple questions like: What parish do you belong to? Have you been able to get to Mass? Etc., etc. Many of the people are elderly and can't get to Mass, but have the right intention. They want to go, but just can't get there. They are very happy to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion. Others say "no, I rather not receive today." I then bless them with the Holy Sacrament.
Yes there is a ritual and it is called "Pastoral Care of the Sick. Rites of Anointing and Viaticum."
As a deacon I cannot offer the Sacrament of the sick (Anointing), but I can say the prayers of the Rite of Viaticum Outside Mass. Many times have I given Viaticum to someone dying and then never seeing them again. Hopefully they are praying for me in heaven!
The Rite for Holy Communion in a hospital begins with an antiphon, then a Greeting, followed by a Scripture reading. A short meditation be said, then the Lord's Prayer. Then the "Lamb of God" is said while I hold up the Sacred Host. Then I give the sick person Holy Communion. A concluding Prayer is said. The final blessing is ommitted unless no one received Holy Communion.
This is my favorite ministry! I love visiting the sick!

Our priest does the Trisagion prayers and annoints with the prayers for healing. (I think I remember from being in the hospital last winter)
As a deacon if he has the time and the patients are up to it, my husband will do the Paraklisis with people, and then use the holy oil.
