One of the worst things is when parents force toddlers who have become totally hysterical to have communion. It is truly terrifying for the clergy!!!

Hi Sharon!
Ahhh...but how much longer will the 13 year old let you hug her? (Although mine still do, but they feel 'stupid'). How lucky you are that you have a toddler too!!! Now that's a real huggable age!
God bless, and thanks for the answer.

Dear Father Mark,
I totally agree with you, and as I posted under 'paedocommunion', I don't know why the parents or godparents holding the baby don't just let it go until another time!

The official status of that Synod is unclear but the de facto status is not, matters such as the supression of the teplota and use of the sponge became normative for Ruthenian Greek Catholics. While the teplota has been restored to the texts where it may have been lacking it is not enforced outside of cathedrals that I observed. Some priests do now take it while others do not. This matter is less rigid than the use of precut particles instead of a whole Lamb (since we are talking about liturgy I mention that). Tony

In the Orthodox parishes I have attended, most folks receive "on the lips", which doesn't involve "chomping" on the spoon, but simply involves closing one's lips around the spoon to receive communion. Some folks tilt the head and receive communion being dropped in their mouths from the spoon -- noone seems to mind, either way. It may seem strange to folks who aren't used to it, but I'm not aware of anyone becoming sick from this, including the priest and/or deacons who consume the residual communion elements remaining in the chalice following the communion of the faithful.

You guys better keep an eye on Brazilian Ukie priests if they happen to substitute one of your priests on vacation or that might fall ill. I think one of our priests is a cleptomaniac, in our Ukie churches in Brazil the spoons have vanished and comunion is distributed with the fingers. Whenever a Ukie priest comes over to my house I tell my wife to quickly hide the spoons, unless he's a Ukie Orthodox priest. We still haven't found this guy, who knows, he might be in Canada or in the old USA. I've been investigating on my own lately and I'm keeping an eye on this old priest (he's got two gold teeth)I'm not going to mention names at the moment, he could be inocent you know. If you people have any information please let me know or contact your nearest FBI agent. Lauro

You know how some people collect commemorative spoons from vacations and stuff? Maybe he likes to collect communion spoons to remember churches by. Okay, I know that was dumb... sorry. dave
