Is there a pronunciation guide for the Slavonic texts - printed in the Latin alphabet - in the BCC pew books? The pronunciation people use seems to be similar to the rules for pronouncing Slovak except perhaps for the location of the stress.

Don't you mean similar to Rusyn?

CRW,

I don't suspect this will answer your needs, but it is a fascinating site of related interest that I came across not long ago

Omniglot [omniglot.com]

You might also want to take a look at Introduction to Church Slavonic [puluka.com] on the website of Steve Puluka, a member here.

Many years,

Neil

Thanks, Irish, the second link had just what I need. D'akujem pekne.

I studied Slovak 20 years ago for family reasons and the rules seem to be close except for the placement of the accent - not indicated in Slavonic and regular in Slovak - and the length of vowels - indicated in Slovak by a mark on the vowel.

Of course one would expect the pronunciation of Slavonic in a Ruthenian church to follow the rules for Rusyn when written in the Latin alphabet. But finding that information is no easier than finding a direct answer to my question.
