Christos Voskrese!

Yes, I remember when a certain parish (besides V&O wink ) actually chased a former Bishop of our eparchy to his car and he had to flee at a fairly high rate of speed...

But hey, at least Bishop-elect Richard's parish had Vespers occasionally. That's a step ahead of many Greek Catholic parishes in North America.

Dear Ukipatr,

Whenever I feel cold, I go to the thread "Where are the bishops?" to see what's hot . . . wink

For those who are interested. I found a site that has pictures of the prosession of the shroud with patriarchs Husar and Filaret in the city of Kyiv.
(www.kyivpatriarchalsobor.org/ukr/news/ [kyivpatriarchalsobor.org])
I hope you enjoy the pictures and let's all pray for the union of the Ukrainian Churches.

Dear Alex,
I'm not sure of who this new bishop of yours is, but he could be very eastern, I guess you will just have to wait and see.
If I'm not mistaken our bishop down here in Brazil will be retiring soon as well at the end of the year.
I also heard form one of our priests that an invitation has been made to PATRIARCH Husar to come down in November. I hope that this is true.
I hope and pray that a good choice be made.

From www.ugcc.org.ua: [ugcc.org.ua]

"Спільна молитва, на якій лунали галицький і київський напіви, на якій священики були одягнені в різні за фасоном і кольором фелони, стала моделлю майбутньої єдності всіх у Христі."

Unofficial translation: "Common prayer, at which resounded Galician and Kyivan chants, and at which priests were vested in different styles (?) and colours of phelons, became the model of a future union of all in Christ."

That is directly from the Official Web-Site of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, describing the service at St. Vladimir's Cathedral in Kyiv.

My analysis: High-backs and Kyivan Chant are officialy oproved by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church as a means of attaining Church unity. biggrin

Dear Daniil,

I must say that the high-backs I saw at Christ the Saviour parish yesterday were very, very beautiful.

Fr. Korz looked spectacular in his high-back and Orthodox Cross.

He has no beard yet, but I understand his final exams were something of a "close shave." smile

(Not really . . .kidding).

And he also has an ancestor with the same surname who is a canonized Ukrainian Orthodox New Martyr!

I also saw two large shelves on either side of the Church in the shape of three bar Crosses and there were icons arranged inside them! (Is that something other churches have?)

Dear Lauro,

If His Beatitude Lubomyr is O.K. with the papal approval, then I'm O.K. with it too.

I don't like it, but I'm O.K. with it . . .

Hopefully, His Beatitude will come down to your neck of the woods too.

His beard makes him look like Santa Claus and I believe your wish-list included some Studites . . .

Dear Alex,
You can bet on that.
I don't really know if there is such a possibility of bringing a Studite from Ukraine or even from Grotto-Ferrata to be a bishop in another country. From what I've seen the majority of the bishops that have been enthroned seem to have their backgrounds linked to the countries where they are going to be working. For example if there is a vacancy for a Ukie bishop in Canada, then the candidate must be Canadian or at least speak English fluently. In this case I don't believe that there are any Ukie Studites that speak Portuguese, and that will probably bring us down to our native Ukie-Brazilians as future candidates. Do you know if Kyr Hlib Lonchyna speaks Portuguese?

The pictures are very promising.

Just a few observations: The UGC priests are wearing the white Papal visit vestments and at the bottom right picture, you can see Victor Yushchenko. Lubomyr as also wearing the short omophorian (sic??)

It would be nice to see Lubomyr sporting the same headdress as Filaret.
