Does anyone out there have a full divine liturgy that I could download ? I would prefer a BC liturgy, but Orthodox is also fine with me.

Do any eastern churches reserve the blessed sacrament like the romans ?

I read on another forum that St. Peter's in Rome is actually a basillica for use,, if you will, and honor for the Patriarch of Constantinople. The same is true for other Patriarchs: Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, and the Pope's church St.John Latern as Bishop of Rome. Heard of this , please elaborate the history.

Thanks, formerly leoxpiusx, I messed up my computer or something and I got a new post name !

Reservation of the blessed sacrament:

Among the Eastern Orthodox, reservation of the Holy Gifts is almost universal - the only exception I can think of would occur in a case where the priest might only be able to visit a church or chapel infrequently, and hesitated to leave the Holy Gifts for fear of profanation or corruption.

Among the other Eastern Churches, who are usually styled "Orthodox" by courtesy, the situation to the best of my limited knowledge is that the Coptic Orthodox only reserve the Holy Gifts if there is a specific person to whom Holy Communion must be brought because he cannot come to church (sickness and imprisonment are two obvious reasons). There is little doubt that the Copts used to reserve the Holy Gifts; it seems that the present practice developed for fear that the Muslims would misappropriate and profane the reserved Holy Gifts.

The other Eastern Churches will normally reserve the Holy Gifts.

N.B. - at least in principle, most Eastern Churches maintain the older tradition of reserving the Gifts on Holy Thursday and keeping the Holy Gifts until the following Holy Thursday, for use in bringing Holy Communion to those unable to come to Church.
The Holy Gifts are also reserved in anticipation of the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. This is normally to be done at the full Divine Liturgy (of Saint John Chrysostom or Saint Basil the Great, as the case may be) which most closely precedes the Presanctified Liturgy. Since Orthodox tabernacles are usually rather small, a special tabernacle for the Presanctified Holy Gifts is available from most church-goods shops serving the Orthodox and Eastern Catholics.

There are several different Liturgies that you might want to look at. At the Eastern Catholic Pastoral Association of Southern California I have posted several of them. Try this link to the Worship [faswebdesign.com] page.
