Indeed, and well said.

That is a thoroughly Eastern Christian way of expressing the reality.
And that is one of the things I found (and still find!) so appealing about Eastern Christianity. It has the honesty to acknowledge our limits and God's lack of limits in a modest, humble way. In the East, Truth is a mystery -- because Truth is beyond the capacity of the human mind and human language to encompass. The word mystery doesn't become an excuse for not knowing "the answer" -- i.e., Truth. Instead, mystery means that Truth cannot be contained or defined but It can be received and lived and given.

The other quote was good too.

When you have a chance, would you kindly give cites for those quotes by Florensky and Clement please? I havent read them, and I might want to look them up and see what else those authors have to say. Also could you give me a link to that modern apologetics discussion you referenced ? Thank you.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I wanted to post the reason why I am asking these questions. I have a friend who is challenging me almost daily with the existence of God.

I am having a hard time with the various challenges. There must be a reason why he is challenging me daily like this.

Please pray for wisdom for me and enlightment for him.

Yours in the risen IC XC

The Clement quote is from "The Origins of Christian Mysticism" which is a must read for any Catholic or Orthodox who wants to taste of the riches of the Fathers.

My friend has agreed to watch:
http://www.ewtn.com/series/2006/fall2006/Finding_God.htm

Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D., lends insight into new evidence gathered from the fields of contemporary philosophy and physics which supports proof for the existence of God. The universe itself connotes the existence of a creator and the principle of intelligent design leads to logical conclusions about the nature of God.

Tonight on EWTN. I hope the program is good!
