That is a thoroughly Eastern Christian way of expressing the reality.
And that is one of the things I found (and still find!) so appealing about Eastern Christianity. It has the honesty to acknowledge our limits and God's lack of limits in a modest, humble way. In the East, Truth is a mystery -- because Truth is beyond the capacity of the human mind and human language to encompass. The word mystery doesn't become an excuse for not knowing "the answer" -- i.e., Truth. Instead, mystery means that Truth cannot be contained or defined but It can be received and lived and given.

When you have a chance, would you kindly give cites for those quotes by Florensky and Clement please? I haven�t read them, and I might want to look them up and see what else those authors have to say. Also could you give me a link to that modern apologetics discussion you referenced ? Thank you.
