When Saint John Chrysostom composed his liturgy, did he use any sources? Did he write an entirely new liturgy? Or was it simply an adaption of liturgies that were then existing?
What about Saint Basil's liturgy?
thanks!

Shlomo Usqueadmortem,
All Divine Liturgies are based on the Antiochene Liturgies which are based on the Jewish Liturgies.

Dear Yohannan - I appreciate your points, but neither can be regarded as fully proven.

Well, I did a little reading on the question. It seems that both Saint Cyril and Saint Basil significantly shortened the Antiochene Rite (from what I understand it was like 6 hours or something! 8-o).
What are the main differences between the Liturgy of Saint Basil and Saint Chrysostom?
