Today's Faith and Values section in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution has a couple of very nice articles (they aren't Catholic bashing for a change). Two articles on the Rosary. At the end of one of them in tiny print is a list of different faiths and the way they use prayer beads. Hopefully you can enlarge the print to read it. Another article "Grace...." is written by a Catholic columnist. A fourth article is about Henri Neuwan (sp?). Enjoy.... http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/epaper/editions/saturday/faith_values.html denise

Denise,
Haha, what a coincidence. I read the article a couple of hours ago and was considering posting something about it, but then decided not to. I'm glad you did the work for me, though (show's how lazy I am).
I thought the article was great, and very touching. 'Course, the chotki should be included under "Catholicism" because it is an Eastern Catholic devotion as well as an Orthodox one, and perhaps the Rosary should be listed under many of the other churches because it has faithful adherents from all across Christiniaty. However, I understand they were generalizing for the bigger picture, so that's fine.

to ChristTeen I was wondering if you saw it! BTW, we took our son out to University West Georgia last weekend for a look. Are there any Catholic churches in Carrolton? We saw everything else right in town. The only Catholic church we saw was further north on, I think state road 13?, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. denise

Denise,
So you visited my beautiful little town? Fun stuff! I love it here...yes, the only Catholic church is about 8 miles north of Carrollton, OLPH. The next-closest Catholic church would be in Douglasville (St. Theresa's) which is about 30 minutes east of Carrollton, or in Newnan (St. George's) which is about 30 minutes southwest of Carrollton.
Down here, we're all Bible-beatin' Baptist, with an odd Methodist or two (like me) stuck in here somewhere. I attend the only private school in Carrollton and in my school there's actually a lot more denominational diversity than in the public schools; out of the 20 people in my grade/class, 7 are Catholic (not including myself, since I haven't converted yet) and that's a HUGE change from the public school.

P.S. OLPH is very small, and has switched priests very recently. Unfortunately, this new priest has totally remodeled the inside OLPH (which is frankly not attractive on the outside either) making it look like a "black Baptist church" (or so it has been explained to me, I would refrain from using such generalizing terminology...I believe this was said because the new priest is black) by repainting the walls, ceilings, and floors in dark purple and bright yellow, and by actually taking out many statues.
All of this has driven many of OLPH's faithful away to St. Theresa's in Douglasville.
