I wrote an article for my website, entitled "What are Eastern Catholics". It can be found at http://www.chotkis.com/aboutus.htm . It is not intended to be a comprehensive discussion of the many Eastern Rites, but a brief introduction for the Roman Catholic who has never heard of the Eastern rites.

Could you guys please review the article and let me know if there are any glaring errors? I don't want to propogate any misinformation. eek

Thanks,
Tammy

Tammy,

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Your article provides a nice summary of Eastern Churches. Of course, many more topics could be addressed, but that would greatly lengthen the article. Perhaps you could include some Web links on spirituality, traditions, mysteries, etc. The three volume catechism Light for Life from Byzantine Seminary Press would provide many thoughtful ideas.

You do state: The Roman Catholic Church belongs to the Latin Rite, which uses the Tridentine and Novus Ordo Masses More accurately you should say: The Latin Church, commonly referred to as the Roman Catholic Church, uses the Roman Rite to express their spirituality and patrimony. This would include the Tridentine and Novus Ordo Masses

Good luck,
Deacon El

Deacon El,

Thanks for your feedback! I'll make that change this evening! It will take a little more time to find links to add to the article, though.

Dear Tammy,

I'm envious of your ability to take as complex a topic as the relationship amongst the sui juris Churches and the highlights of their liturgical differences, and synthesize it all into so concise and readable an article as you have... quite a wonderful addition to your website!

I fear, however, that our beloved St. Basil might feel a bit slighted to find his saintly title appearing with a lowercase "S" (fourth paragraph)!

wink

Thank you! That's quite flattering!

Good catch! The default font in my copy of notepad, (which I use for html editing) makes certain capital and lowercase letters (like s, c, and u) appear almost the same. It's easy for me to miss. I really need to change the font before I proofread! wink

Tammy,

Slava Isusu Christu. Your website is beautiful. Your synopsis of our Church is very articulate and easy to understand. If I had not been guided to our Byzantine church before, your article would have done it.

Please do not forget to put up some customer testimonials. (This is not a sales pitch but a fact!)

When my wife gets baptized next Sunday on Pascha, she will be carrying that beautiful Pink/Rose Fire Czech glass Chotki you created. It will always be a constant reminder to her of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you again for all you have done, from the bottom of my heart!

Many years to you and Michael.

Very informative website!

But I still prefer phrasing the teaser as: "Who are the Eastern Catholics?"

More power to you!

Deacon John has made that suggestion as well, in a PM. I just haven't gotten a chance to make the change!

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate your help.

I love it. I was looking for a daily missal, and that was great that you included the 2 liturgies, it was really easy to find and follow. I now go to the tridentine mass because there is no byzantine here and thats the next best thing. Thanks alot.
