All Glory and Praise to Jesus Christ, the Lord:

I ran across this website by accident:

www.unicorne.org/orthodoxy/articles/calendar/novembre_19.htm. [unicorne.org]

Did the early Irish Christians have some connection with the Eastern Christians in the first millenium?

Is early Irish Christianity still alive and well in the Gaeltacht?

Trying to assist St. Therese, the Little Flower, in letting fall a shower of roses, and spending her heaven doing good on earth,

Yes there was a conection between Eastern Monasticism and the Early Irish Church, but later the Church became more influenced by the Church of Rome.

Tried unsuccessfully to open that web site and failed. Anyway, yes, there is certainly a connection between the early Irish Church and the Christian East. There's an interesting book called The Egyptian Desert in the Irish Bog available from that Traditional Orthodox publishing house in California which explores some of these things. A lot more remains to be researched.

As to the Gaeltacht, well, yes and no. In an important sense, quite a lot is still vibrant despite the best efforts of the later Irish hierarchy to stamp it out. But the persecution took a severe toll on traditional practice, particularly in the areas of monasticism and liturgy (which, as John Paul II and others have remarked, are the twin pillars of the Church). This could be a long discussion.

Happy Pentecost!

Incognitus, click on the link again, and then in the "address bar", remove the very last period.

It is showing as htm. instead of just htm

With love to all,

Alas, still no luck. Perhaps I'm insufficiently Celtic, insufficiently Orthodox, or both. Or perhaps someone's told them that I don't believe in unicorns (I do, however, believe in Celts and Orthodoxy).

Hmm - try this

All Saints of Ireland [unicorne.org]

I have days like this too and the article is fairly long to post openly
