From past discussions here about different prayer books I noticed that some members use "Byzantine DAily Worship" by Archbishop Joseph Raya. I was wondering if this book contains a division of the psalms... somewhat like the Latin Rite LOTH. If not, do any of the other Eastern Orthodox prayer books have this? Thank you for your help. Yes, Byzantine Daily worship does, indeed, contain the various hours. Unlike the LOTH, however, the prayers do not (in general) vary by day.

Thank you James and FrDeaconEd for your responses. Father Deacon Edward...do the psalms change daily or is it always the same ones? Sorry to keep asking...I want to know a little more about what is inside before I invest in the book.
Thanks again for your help. Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus! Marie

The psalms do not change. What changes are things like the Theotokian, the Troparion or th Kontakion.

Dear Marie,
The Byzantine Psalter has 20 divisions called "Kathismata" or "Kathisma" in the singular.
The Psalms that are fixed for the daily Hours do not change, of course.
But in addition to them, the Psalter is read through each week, with two different kathismata for Matins and one for Vespers.
The usual division outside of Lent is: Kathismata 2 and 3 for Sunday Matins (no kathisma for Sunday Vespers), Kathismata 4 and 5 for Monday Matins, and 6 for Monday Vespers.
Kathismata 7 and 8 for Tuesday Matins and 9 for Tuesday Vespers. Kathismata 10 and 11 for Wednesday Matins and 12 for Wednesday Vespers. Kathismata 13 and 14 for Thursday Matins and 15 for Thursday Vespers. Kathismata 19 and 20 for Friday Matins and 18 for Friday Vespers. Kathismata 16 and 17 for Saturday Matins and 1 for Saturday Vespers.
The full division of the Psalter is available online at: pomog.org
