Dear Amado, Perhaps that explains why I sometimes go beyond the boiling point on some issues? Sorry if my reference is a sin against humility. But your friend, Linus, did present his credentials to tell me not to presume to teach him . . . And you know I'm not like that at all! Alex

Dear friends, Actually I have been quite impressed with Alex's humility. He doesn't normally throw around his credentials. It was only after a search on the internet a couple of months ago that I discovered how prolific his influence is on the Eastern community, and found the "Dr." in front of his name. He did not brag to everyone, "Hey, I'm doing a radio broadcast." Someone else heard that broadcast, announced it to the Forum, and graciously provided a way for us all to listen. Yes, Alex does a little name-dropping: "When I met the Queen" etc. Wouldn't YOU want to tell people that? I still tell people that I met Steve Garvey when I was in the 8th grade! Ok, when someone threw their credentials at him, he threw his back. Wouldn't YOU? I would. It's normal to get defensive in a situation like that. Alex's intelligence is obvious from his posts, but it's still normal to feel like it's being called into question, and to want to validate yourself. I find Alex's posts very enlightening. If you think he comes across as condescending (which he doesn't as far as I'm concerned), keep in mind the spirit in which his posts are written. He is trying to educate us on some rather esoteric subjects. Many of us are so caught up in our day-to-day modern society that we have no clue about the finer points of our Eastern Catholic heritage. I'm lucky to find Ukraine on a map; if I spell it "Kiev" instead of "Kyiv" (is that right, Alex?) I WANT to be corrected! So, Dr. Alexander Roman, BA, MA, PhD, you just go on educating us! Tammy

Alex and Tammy,
Rest assured my post was only meant in jest; and I think Alex understood that. I also believe Alex has excelled in the virtue of humility (one that I could work on), so I would never seriously attempt to reprimand him when I've my own discipline to work out.

Dear Tammy: Ditto. Alex is humble, indeed. He just makes it a point to remind us, once in while! Your humble servant, Amado, CP (honoris causa)

Dear Logos Teen and Amado,
Alex once promised to defend me if anyone picked on me here on the Forum. I'm just returning the favor!
Logos Teen, I knew you were just joking. But I think not everybody was.

Dear Friends, Thank you. Yes, I'm rather proud of my humility . . . And, Tammy, you've discovered my hobby - esoteric Christian subjects! Anyone can talk about the Filioque. But how about the cult of St Pontius Pilate in Ethiopia? Alex

Dear Alex,
It didn't take long to figure out your hobby! Your posts are full of esoteric subjects - some from countries I've never heard of!
Keep on posting, and I'll keep reading!

Dear Amado, It would be interesting to meet Alex in person and see if he has an oversized head to fit all those facts in! Just kidding. Seriously, though, I'd like to sit down with him someday for a nice long conversation. He's got a lot of insight to offer along with all those facts. Tammy

Tammy Tammy dear, Sorry you are waaaaaaaaaaaaay down the queue to meet Alex - and remember he has also met the Pope - so our beloved Alex is a very special person . Oh -- his head is normal sized by the way - ask Sharon - she has been fortunate enough to meet him. Anhelyna

Anhelyna [/QB] Dear Anhelyna, My husband is already scheming that if we moved to Canada we could go to Toronto on a vacation and meet Alex! And we have his address, since he ordered chotkis from me! So he won't be able to hide! Hahahaha! <demented laughter> :p But I would make it worth his while - I would bring a beautiful chotki or rosary for his wife! Tammy
