Has anyone read the Paschal Letter of Bishop Michael of the Romanian Catholic diocese? It is a beautiful and powerful statement that we all should read.
http://www.romaniancatholic.org/resources.php?documents=easter2004botean I was especially struck by this passage:
"Thus the task of the Church in a world that is awash in pain is to respond to that pain by making love real, now, by creative works of mercy both as a body and on the part of its individual members. The Church is doing what it is commissioned by its Founder to do when it lives a life of mercy in the consciousness that the resurrection of Christ has changed everything. Christ is risen, and the Christian response to evil and death can never be simply to condemn the darkness. It must always attempt to overcome the darkness with light, bring life out of the grave, and put love where there is only hatred and fear. All Christians have a part to play in living out Christ's messianic program of mercy in his Body, the Church."
The more I hear of this hierarch and read his words, the more I wish I were one of his flock. A true sheperd!
