Hi, I'm Charles. I'm an undergrad at Villanova from Oklahoma. I'm Maronite, and seriously considering joining the seminary. However, I'm not sure if I'm called to celibacy. At present, the Maronites have married priests in Lebanon, but not in the West. Has anyone heard anything about changes in this area? Thanks!

Dear CharlesB, welcome aboard, here you will find alot of hearfelt advice, wisdom, knowledge and concern for others. I suggest you talk with a priest, after all they were not born celibate! And from the priest's and monastics I know they all tell me the same thing: Celibacy is a gift from God! Good luck and I will pray for you a rosary this evening.

Thank you all for the welcomes, and a special thanks to Seraphim. God knows I could use the rosary.

Does Yuhannon come here often?

Charles,

Welcome to the Forum, . (This is going to get confusing - used to just have to think about differentiating between Charles Bransom and our Tennessean brother biggrin ). We need more Maronite representation (I do think that Yuhannon has been our only active Maronite poster until now); he posts here fairly regularly and I suspect reads even more regularly. I need to reply to him regarding a message on another site and will nudge him to come by, just in case.

Stephanos,

It's the Melkites. Charles is correct that the Maronites haven't ordained any married priests in the US and I don't believe that they have any married priests assigned here.

Many years,

Neil
