Glory to Jesus Christ!

A few weeks ago I saw many people approaching His Grace, Bishop JOB (Osacky) at a conference. Folks made the sign of the cross, bowed from the wast, touched the floor, crossed their hands, palms up, right over left, said "Master Bless" and His Grace then formed the Christogram for a blessing. Then the person kissed the hand of his grace.

What is the Carpatho-Rusyn protocol for asking a Bishop's blessing?

In Christ,

John

Same question - the bishop is Ukrainian Greek Catholic here in the United States.

Thanks Father Moses.

Perhaps I just thought folks were making the sign of the cross.

In the Orthodox Church, one doesn't make the sign of the Cross when recievieng a blessing from a bishop or priest. However, when the bishop or priest blesses with the Cross, Gospel, or Chalice, the sign of the Cross is made.I believe that in the Latin Rite, one does cross oneselve when recieving a blessing, so perhaps this practice influenced Greek Catholics and those Orthodox which came from Greek Catholicism.BTW, Greeks and Serbs cross themselves when being censed, but Russian do not, except for the Old Believers.

How does one address a bishop in writing then?
