Actually, I don't agree that I've done that.
We disagree.

Your tone can be a bit less condescending.
I type badly and proof-read worse. So I tend to stick to the limited point that I am trying to make without much embellishment. Sorry if that sounds condescending.

Dear Friend,

O.K., ultimately I agree with Chrysostom and don't care about this! smile

My parish celebrates Pascha twice. It's a good thing we don't have Quartodecimans around any more (although I knew one fellow once . . . I'll tell you at another time . . .).

A happy Holy Week to you and Blessed Pascha!

St Seraphim of Sarov used to greet every person who visited him every day with the greeting "Christ is Risen!"

May such an experience of Pascha be ours always!

Alex

Sorry guys, but my original question remains unanswered...
The only Eastern Catholics anywhere near me are Ukrainian. Will they be celebrating Pascha next Sunday or on another date?

Filipe,

You should call them and ask because outside Ukraine some UGCs are on the Gregorian calendar, Paschalion included and some are on the Julian. And this even in the same Eparchy and sometimes in the same parish!

Dear Father Deacon Lance,

You are right indeed!

Some parishes have both calendars, like my in-laws!

I believe the word to describe the situation in Ukrainian is "Salamakha."

Is it the same in Ruthenian? smile

dear Filipe:

Some Ukrainian parishes follow the Latin Calendar, some the Orthodox Paschalia. Some both! So the best thing is to call up and ask.

(the one's that do both are murder on the priest!)
(and the people who have to switch the church cloths)

Dear Filipe,
Many thanks to you. It is joyful to learn that in Portugal the Ukrainian Greek Catholics will celebrate Pascha on the Julian Calendar. They will not be alone! It's too late for this year, but some year it would be pleasant to have a number of groups from various countries gather for Holy Week in Fatima, which has a lovely and good-sized Byzantine chapel.

Dear UC,

We all agree this division is not good but we have to endure it till others also reach this decision . One year it will happen - and we will all celebrate on the same date.

Till then

Khristos Voskrese ! Voistinu Voskrese !

Christos anesti! Alithos anesti! !

Cristo ressuscitou! Em verdade ressuscitou!

Atgyfododd Crist! Atgyfododd yn wir!

Kriost eirgim! Eirgim!

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is risen

Yes, but please don't call it "Julian Calendar" Pascha!

OK - how does the use of the old "Old Calendar" and "New Calendar" appeal to you ? Frankly I find it easier to use them rather than the other 2 terms smile
