Hi Dan, I think OoD has been misinformed about Guiness. If he were right Ireland would be in trouble and possess harry people. Me Irish wife would not like me remarks. Ya can tell I have lots of fun berating me Irish wife. LOL
I got an idea! I think it would be an interesting evening out at an Irish pub with an Old Greek Calendarist, New Greek Calendarist(me), and a Byzantine Catholic. What do you fellows say? We are fellow Chicagoans.
Brian you can fly in from Cali.

Slava Isusu Chrystu!
Dia dhuit! Wait a minute! Couldn't a Byzantine Celt enjoy a pint with the lads? I have family coming into Chicago from Eire (Galway) on Monday of next week. What about a tag along???
Can Eastern Catholics come too???

As the slogan of the Guinness Company goes "Guinness is Good for You" If you guys would not mind an Irish Byzantine Catholic inquirer into Orthodoxy by way of the OCA? I'll meet ya at the Pub! Brian

Criostoir, Sorry for forgettting to invite you. I thougth the distance would prevent you from coming. You are more than welcomed. By the way ,me wife's family are from County Mayo. I hope to go to Ireland next year just to taste their pint of Guiness and to go see why people are kissing the Blarney Stone. It must be the next big thing to kissing the Ka'aba located in Mecca. It's rare to find an Irish Muslim even though I have encountered Irish female converts to Islam. Someone forgot to remind them of kissing the Blarney Stone and no need to become a Muslim.

To answer your question Brian: yes.
All Irish Byzantine Catholics as well as Irish Orthodox are welcomed. This way I feel at a home as if the in-laws were around me, the only & lonely Arab Orthodox. After a few pints the feelings of anxiety all disappear as well as our differences. Slainte!!!

I would love to make it sometime. It would be great fun... I am a working actor at a regional theater here, but I have Mondays off. I would love to get a pint.
As to the pints in Eire... they taste better there. Guinness doesn't travel so well.
As far as "Guinness for Strength" type slogans... it's true. A pint can provide your daily allowance of anti-oxidants.

Brian you can fly in from Cali. Could a just-turned-21 non-Chalcedonian from New York come too, even if he doesn't have an Irish bone in his body? Or would that just be too much? :p [ 08-16-2002: Message edited by: Mor Ephrem ]

Dear Chriostoir;
St. Michael's Ukrainian Cath. Church in Mishawaka is my home parish. I now live in Grand Rapids so I attend here.
If there is something going on at the Greek Orthodox parish in South Bend, (St. Andrews,) I'd say go for it. I have only had good experiences visiting there over the years.
Near you is also a Serbian Orthodox Monastery in New Carlisle, Indiana. It is very beautiful, and the services are all in Church Slavonic. I found the sisters to be pleasant, but not as friendly as the Romanian sisters we have near Jackson, MI.
If you want more info, please email me. sjsch524@i2k.com
Slava Isusu Christu! Stefan-Ivan

Dear Rum Orthodox, How appropriate for someone with the screen name "Rum" to be discussing alcoholic issues! Welcome, Robert, welcome. I've missed you here . . . Alex

Alex me boy, I missed reading your posts. Of course, that's not because of me bottle of "Rum". The last time I had rum was in the Dominican Republic in July. But I am not big on the alcohol except when I am visiting me Irish in-laws. Slainte!!!
