Today is the Feastday of St. Joseph, often called "forgotten member of the Holy Family." He was a man of the Spirit...and not one word that he ever spoke is recorded in Holy Scripture. Why? Because he was a man of ACTION! When the Spirit spoke to St. Joseph and told him to 'go to Egypt'---Joseph didn't 'discuss' this---he WENT. When the Spirit spoke and told him to "return to Israel"---he WENT. He was obedient to God at every point in his life and didn't talk about it---he ACTED! Oh if we could only be "less talk and more action" like him!!!

St. Josemaria on St. Joseph:

From: Friends of God Chapter on: Working for God

# 72 Again we hear the voice of St Paul: 'Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast and immovable in your resolve, doing your full share continually in the Lord's work, since you know that your labour in the Lord's service cannot be spent in vain.' Don't you see? A complete range of virtues is called into play when we set about our work with the purpose of sanctifying it: fortitude, to persevere in our work despite the difficulties that naturally arise and to ensure that we never let ourselves be overwhelmed by anxiety; temperance, in order to spend ourselves unsparingly and to overcome our love of comfort and our selfishness; justice, so as to fulfil our duties towards God, society, our family and our fellow workers; prudence, to know in each case what course to take, and then to set about it without hesitation... And all this, I emphasise, is for the sake of Love, with a keen and immediate sense of responsibility for the results of our work and its apostolic impact.

'Love is deeds, not sweet words', says the proverb, and I don't think there is anything else to add.

Lord, give us your grace. Open the door to the workshop in Nazareth so that we may learn to contemplate you, together with your holy Mother Mary and the holy Patriarch St Joseph, whom I love and revere so dearly, the three of you dedicated to a life of work made holy. Then, Lord, our poor hearts will be enkindled, we shall seek you and find you in our daily work, which you want us to convert into a work of God, a labour of Love.

Prayer to St. Joseph:

O Glorious St. Joseph, I choose you today for my special patron in life and at the hour of my death. Preserve and increase in me the spirit of prayer and fervor in the service of God. Remove far from me every kind of sin; obtain for me that my death may not come upon me unawares, but that I may have time to confess my sins sacramentally and to bewail them with a most perfect understanding and a most sincere and perfect contrition, in order that I may breath forth my soul into the hands of Jesus and Mary. Amen.

In Christ Jesus Our Lord,
+Fr. Gregory

Not by me! I regularly ask him to watch over and protect my family, as he watched over and protected our Lord and Saviour. I know that my boys' father is also looking out for us, but St. Joseph has become a beloved figure for me.

Saint Joseph, I thank you for your example as a guardian, as a family man, and as a humble worker!

Saint Joseph, Foster Father of our Lord, and guardian of our Lady Theotokos, pray unto God for us and intercede for all men in all walks of life that they may emulate you!

Pentha Tria and all you give such wonderful testimonies of God's love for his family through St. Joseph. I just love St. Joseph he has helped us so much in so many ways through the years.

However, I get tickled, and I know he helped us buy a home, but there are web sites dedicated to just selling St. Joseph Statues for selling real estate like the one below. They really spread the word, but you know maybe this is St. Josephs way of getting the worlds attention like Blessed Mother has been doing too. Use to be just Catholics used him, now everyone is using his services. biggrin He is taking up his place in their hearts, and they have to in a way accept the communion of saints to ask for his services. God can be so sneaky :p Don't you just love it wink

I find that so interesting, but then I am easily amused. Pani Rose

Mother made a novena to St. Joseph before I was born. She prayed for a healthy baby and pledged if it be a boy she name him Michael after St. Michael, the Archangel. She said if it be a girl she would name her Mary Josephine after the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph. Dad agreed.

She had a healthy baby girl.
