Yeah EWTN has shaped my faith to an extent. But largely now it seems Ive outgrown it and only a few programs now.

Slightly off topic here;

What would it take for EWTN to broadcast the Divine Liturgy on Sundays from Pani Rose's parish? Is that not close to the broadcasting studio?

It would be a blessed event to experience a more diverse programming which would include Eastern Catholicism.

Think of the audience that EWTN reaches and the impact of EWTN showing and validating the Divine Liturgy, in addition to the tradition Roman Mass.

Just a thought. Sorry if this has been mentioned previously.

Dear Michael:

I venture a guess.

The Divine Liturgy at Pani Rose's parish can be broadcast LIVE if her parish do ALL the "dirty" work and if EWTN staff can find a slot for it on a given Sunday.

Having said that, EWTN would probably say that the DL should be pre-taped and submitted to EWTN for airing in the slot given to the Eastern Catholic Churches: the "Light of the East" program series co-hosted by Fr. Michael Sopoliga and Fr. Joseph Bertha, both Ruthenians, either on Fridays or Saturdays.

See:

Additionally, I think EWTN requires cost-sharing.

Dear Amado,

Thank you for your response. I would think the 10 AM slot Sunday Morning would be perfect on a weekly basis for broadcasting the Divine Liturgy.

Based on cost sharing comments, does that mean that the Byzantine Catholic church is paying to broadcast "Light of the East"?

If Pani's parish was willing to do this, and there is a cost, I would be willing to work with others to lead a fund raiser for promoting our Eastern Catholicism via EWTN.

I am a troublemaker, aren't I? :-)

Dear Michael:

No, you are NOT a troublemaker! wink

At any rate, my comment on "cost-sharing" was off the cuff. It was based on an unbiased consideratrion of the economics involved in a broadcast, live or taped.

In the case of the "Light of the East" series on EWTN, I think Fr. Michael and Fr. Joseph are personally shouldering the brunt of the production responsibilities. I don't know if they are given a free ride for the airing.

You should communicate with either, or with EWTN's staff, to have a feel for EWTN's specific requirements.

Amado
