I guess you folks are right. Get the building and the church is a big enough task. Focusing on pews is minute compared to establishing the parish.
I've started praying to God about the State College Church, hoping it works and happens. There is a large immigrant population of Ukrainians, Russians and Eastern Europeans in State College. Recently someone built a large church called "russian baptist church."
A Byzantine Parish might keep some of the new Americans from loosing their Orthodox/ Greek Catholic faith. There isn't any choice other than the Roman Catholic Churches in State College. There aren't any Orthodox/Greek Catholic churches nearby. Hawk Run isn't far, about 30 minutes away (which has the Byzantine and an Orthodox Church). But having a church there is a good idea. I'm sure there are more than a few Byzantine Catholics there missing a home.

I've never seen it, and don't know anything
about it, but according to the State College
phone book, there is a "Holy Trinity Orthodox

That was the former Protestant church that the Byzantine Catholic Student Ministry wanted the Ruthenian Archeparchy to purchase, as they were given first shot at buying the property back in
1990. Archbishop Dolinay had no interest in starting a mission parish in State College, let alone give up such Archeparchial funds to purchase a church building. That was during the time of the "GREAT ARCHEPARCHIAL REAL ESTATE" follies that we're all still paying for ! shocked

I know where sparks st. is, kind of near the bicycle shop. I know where this is, but never paid attention to any church on that street.
It'd be nice to have a Byzantine Catholic Church three blocks from downtown now!! I think the song would need to be revised... If I had three million dollars.... I'd by a church downtown!

Interestingly, Father John Reeves, a former Anglican and the pastor of Holy Trinity Orthodox (OCA) in State College has recorded a number of tapes specifically focused on evangelization in the Eastern Churches. Folks involved in the evangelization effort may wish to look at:

and also at:

The RC church is building a 22,700 (approx.) sq.ft Catholic Student Union Building/Chapel right off PSU property... after a several year court battle.

Surely there is room for a Byzantine Church somewhere in State College. I am not rich, but I would donate whatever I could afford to towards the Byzantine cause in State College.
