Is this the parish in Pocono Summit? Doesn't Father Michael from the Carpathian Village still serve this parish? The Old Forge parish is already serving Taylor as well I believe.

How about Nashville and Knoxville? How about Peoria, Il, Champaign, Ill, Omaha, Neb., Iowa, Wisconsin? How about a serious push in St. Louis, KC, Minn. and the like?

As John replied, Fr. Michael Salnicky from the Carpathian Village is the full-time pastor of St. Nicholas in Mt. Pocono. He hasn't served in Old Forge in a long while. Pike County is a crucial area. The Roman Catholic parish in Milford is growing and building a new, larger church. An Orthodox Mission is already being formed (with a lot of push and help from my priest). I was born and raised an Irish Catholic who attends Divine Liturgy once a month in St. Louis or Kansas City. I would really miss the kneeler at the pew after receiving the body and blood of the Lord. I will respect whatever decision the Byzantine Church reaches about pews. However, I ask you to consider that the Byzantine Church is gradually becoming a pan-ethnic Church as opposed to a Ruthenian Church.

It seems to me a good way to resolve the pew dispute is to have some pews for those who need and want them. Also, have some free floor space for those who don't. I'm not convinced it has to be an either/or situation.

Rearranging deck chairs on sinking ships is a custom refined and perfected by people of Slavic origin. It is especially prominent in churches with Byzantine Slavic affiliations. Byzantines don't care that the ship is sinking, they don't have to, and nobody is going to make them.

About new missions in other states than PA, my family, and a local Ukrainian Byzantine Deacon and his family, are trying to start a new Ukrainian Byzantine mission in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as well as missions in Raleigh and Charlotte. If there is anyone out there in our area that would be interested in helping with this mission, let me know. (tarikoty@hotmail.com) We recently celebrated a Typicka Service in our home. It was truly excitiing! With the Lord's help, I believe our mission will succeed! Glory Be To Jesus Christ!
