Rick, how about just a little further south...we have a very nice church and community in the Kansas City area and outreach "domestic churches" further out on the Kansas side. Moe is correct, there are Ukrainian parishes in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska and St. Joseph, Missouri which are primarily Ukrainian language usage. There are also three parishes in western North Dakota. The parish in Kansas City is primarily English with some occasional Slavonic.

I have tried on at least three occasions to get tha list updated to reflect the presence of the mission in Tennessee, sending information to the e-mail address for updated information. The requested addition was never made, nor was the information acknowledged in any way. Is this directory still active?

Thanks for the info. I will check it all out. As for leaving New England for somewhere warmer- well, that's one of the reasons- socially it's the coldest place on the planet. Rick

Originally posted by byzanTN: I would triple-check that directory. It lists no Eastern Catholic Churches in Tennessee, yet we just celebrated our 5-year anniversary as a mission. We were actually around a few years prior as a community. I remember a few years ago arguing with someone at the Metropolia in Pittsburgh and insisting that there was a mission church in East Tennessee and he argued that there wasn't, even when I told him that the now late Metropolitan (eternal rest) had visited the mission himself .I guess if its not a red state, then it must be a land of darkness, and that the Light of the East does not shine there. I remember mentioning this to Ed Klages, and he wondered how many other people were led to believe that there was no Eastern Catholic presence in Tennessee, period. (oh there is a group in Nashville as well that seeks to become a mission). I truly hope that there is a mission here in Tennessee, I have been sending money there for some time, and am fixing to write yet another check for Holy Resurrection. Much Love, Jonn

The website for the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh has an official directory for parishes in its jurisdiction: Archeparchy of Pittsburgh-Directory of Parishes [ archeparchy.org] Holy Resurrection Mission certainly does exist.

JonnNightwatcher -
Most of Pennsylvania is indeed a "red state". Remember that the dead vote in Philadelphia. In Pittsburgh, all the ballots only have "D" on them.
As for being in the darkness - it is often cloudy here. "Partly Cloudy - Allegheny County" is accurate 85% of the time.

Originally posted by EJKlages: Is this directory still active? Ed, I hadn't really thought about it, though I always add a caveat when I refer folks to it. I just checked on a couple of parishes that are have been around for a while ( e.g., Father Chrysostom Frank's Russian parish in Denver) and don't see a listing. Will try and see what I can learn about its viability. Many years, Neil
