Dear friends,

I am interested in putting together a series of Byzantine Catholic Bumperstickers, to help get the word out about us.

Any ideas?

How about this one:

Byzantine Catholics - we exist, dammit!

Take care,
Anthony

Dear Dragani,

What a wonderful idea! I was just thinking of stickers that said "Pray the Akathist" or something along those lines myself...

Here's a few:

Byzantine-the other Catholic church
(I know there are others. Let them get their own bumper stickers.)

We reside in the West but live in the East

We cross ourselves the right way!

Byzantine Catholicism- a church for our time, a church for all time

The Byzantine Liturgy-the Trinity in Living Colour

and my personal favorite:
We left our hearts in Constantinople!

John

a couple more:

Catholic-- without the guilt

The Pope is our papa too!

Somebody stop me!

Byzantine Catholics: We'd rather fight than switch!

Byzantine Catholicism: Endorsed by God!

Partakers of the Divine Nature.

I can too go to communion!

We are too Catholic
(utilizing the double meaning of too as meaning also and excessive)

Orthodox by faith, Catholic by dogma.

Revealing the Mystery of the ages--the Byzantine Catholic Church

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--we've got 'em all

Honor thy fathers and thy Mother-at a Byzantine Church

John

How about:

This ain't just your grandma's church

Faith of our fathers practiced here

God became man so that man could become Byzantine Catholic

Balamand or Bust!

The Byzantine Church- Where the mind descends into the heart

John

I've always imagined a bumper sticker with an icon drawing of the Theotokos with the caption: Love Your Mother!

Or how about:

Have you hugged your eparch today?
Theosis: Just do it!
Philokalia: It's what's for breakfast.
Start spreading the news...New Rome, New Rome!
Byzantine Catholicism: The Papa is in!
Byzantium...it's all Greek to me!

Mr. Petrus,

"Orthodox by faith, Catholic by dogma."

Can you explain this one? What dogmas are distinctly Byzantine Catholic not shared with the Orthodox? What parts of the Orthodox faith is distinctly Byzantine Catholic not shared with Catholicism? Is dogma different from faith? Is this any different than those who refer to Byzantine Catholics as "Roman Catholics of the Eastern Rite?" Your bumper sticker is troublesome to me; it seems to reflect the common assumption that Byzantine Catholics are excellent in being hybrids. What part of your Tradition is Catholic and what part Orthodox? I would like to know. Thanks.

Elias

Mr. Petrus,

I hope I didn't write something bad. But can you answer my questions anyways? Thanks.

I have not laughted so heartily in a long time. Good night John Ireland, wherever you are!
