Dear Don,
Irishmen are always welcome in the Ukie CAtholic Church!
You guys taught us to remain faithful to the Catholic Church (are you listening Nik?).
You taught us the Rosary. St Olha received Celtic missionaries first at Kyiv and the Celtic Cross is popular with us Ukies.
You also taught us to drink (and I'm not talking Holy Water here . . .).
A Scottish Celt was in the army of Hetman Khmelnitsky.
The Hetman said he couldn't understand a freakin' word the man said, but that "he fought like a demon."
Where would we be without you Celts?

Hi Alex,
Just a clarification: I mean the SSPX are mad at the removal of the FILIOQUE in the Eastern churches and mad at the approval by the Vatican. This is the hardline opinion they post...most unfortunately. To the detriment of the Eastern Churhes and unity with other separated Orthodox Churches, they never care to lend their ears, much less their intellect. This was why the Patriarch of Rome issued the explanation that the "Father is the source of the whole Trinity". They have a closed-door policy that the traditional RC's is "the" Church & no other. So, Alex --- what do you think we can do with such an opinionated group? i tell you: I don't know!
Hey guys, don't worry with SSPX fascinations; in the end you'll never get contaminated with kneeling in the divine liturgy, stations of the cross in Churches, mandatory celibacy for priests etc... I guess Pope John Paul II himself urges the FULL restoration of all eastern traditions in all Eastern Catholic Churches, i.e to shave-off any vestiges of Latinization. This just goes to show how much Rome appreciates and esteems Eastern Christinity, being of apostolic origin, and no matter if they are a minority. Pray for me, a sinner Antonio Domenico
posted 09-17-2002 09:31 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Friends, You mean there are some who think the rejection of the Filioque is NOT heretical?
Since when?
Isn't it time this thread be closed?
With all this fascination with the SSPX, pretty soon we'll be thinking of introducing kneeling, mandatory celibacy and the hymerian veil BACK into our Church . . .

Alex, is this a que for me to go on how Archbishop Ireland and other Irish Catholic leaders are the cause of forced Latinizations in America, or did you try to get my attention for another reason? ;-) But yes the Irish are welcome in the UGCC. God Bless. IC XC NIKA, -Nik! P.S. Alex, as I said in another thread, I don't own http://YourCatholic.com anymore.

Dear (Kostel)Nik,
Yes, I now know you don't own that wonderful website.
What a shame! And how long do you intend to stay with the Russian Orthodox? Church-hopping is, I suppose, like bed-hopping. It speaks of a restlessness that can get one into trouble eventually.
The Irish have that history, yes. Forced Latinization and all that. The Russians have a history with us as well. At least the Irish didn't use secret police and terror to impose their traditions on us.
And there were and are many solid Irish Eastern Catholic (and Orthodox) priests and laity who are dedicated to the Eastern theology and patrimony.
Or are you going to pull a convert thing and maintain that the Irish are all bad Latins and the Russians all great Easterners?
Black and white only works in photography.
But yes, I did try to provoke you . . .
Forgive me.
Alex

Dear Alex, you wound me. I'm not a Church hopper at all, but a truth seeker. The decision is one that I've been thinking of a long time (as in years) and one I've spoken to at length with my UGCC spiritual advisor well before doing so. I make sure I feel a certain way for a lengthy time before doing something about it and then I am slow to announce it. But I have been certain of this course due to my studies and felt like I was lying to myself to stay where I was, so I went where I believe is right. Perhaps you called me such a thing because you felt wounded by my choice to leave the Church you love so much?
And no, I only said the Irish thing in fun after your provacation. Hence the ;-) emoticon.

Dear Brother Nik,
I ask for your forgiveness, as I did more fully in the Town Hall.
I am an idiot and unworthy of even your attention here.

Apology accepted. We all get out of line sometimes, especially when we feel passionate about something. I apologize if I got out of hand with you or anyone else too. God Bless!

Dear Nik, You didn't get out of line, I did. O.K.? How dare you . . . I just don't like to lose a fellow Ukrainian Catholic, especially one of such great spiritual quality like you. We need more like you and when I heard that you've left us, it cut through me like Moses through the Red Sea. God bless you and your little daughter, Big Guy!
