Calling Ukrainian Greek-Catholics...

I am a Latin rite Catholic now and have been attending an Orthodox parish and soon be in a position to participate in a byzantine catholic parish.

Someone told me "that one should stick to one", so i reflected these words and remembered the event that opened my eyes of the beuaty of the byzantine tradition is the airing on EWTN of the Divine Liturgy of the papal visit to Ukraine.

Though i am still in the far east, full of hope to participate in a local UGCC parish by next year in the San Francisco Bay area.

Could anyone direct me to the nearest parish to Novato, Marin County?

thanks! Slava Isusu Chrystu!

Diak,

Thank you for that info... do they have any website? So i could sheck on it. i have been to the website of the Russian Church (Eastern Catholic Center) which help me alot to discover more the beauty of the Old Slavonic Greek Churches.

i was reading your post about being a biritual deacon, and heard that it is not just in the latin church thats in-need of clergy but also in the byzantine churches.

i was inspired with those positive and negative comments there, and now all the more i cannot wait till i'm there. Though i'm latin by birth, i feel that He is calling me to serve his Church through the Byzantines.

After gaining the canonical transfer of Sui Iurus Church, and decerned/waited for more time. where is the nearest UGCC seminary or even a byzcath one?

thanks! God bless!

Eumir, there is a Melkite seminary in Newton, Mass.; Ukrainian seminaries in Stamford, Connecticut (minor only) and Washington, D.C.; and a Ruthenian seminary in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Ukrainian Holy Spirit seminary in Ottawa, Ontario is another option which also is in proximity to St. Paul's University which has a world-renouned Eastern Christian studies program (Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute).

There are also Melkite, Ukrainian, and Ruthenian Catholic diaconate programs as well.
