Hello
Do you know where to find a (greek) Orthodox parish in the USA with the liturgy in Turkish?
A close friend will go to New York in October for 3 months and she wants to know that (she's from Turkey).

Brother Remie, I don't think such an animal exists in the U.S. Since the Greek Archdiocese is essentially "Greek", and uses this language in its liturgies, and since the "vernacular" in the U.S. is American English, one will find that there is a blend of both Greek and English. In Quebec, they use both Greek and some French; and in Mexico, Greek and Spanish. I think that the number of Greek Orthodox Turkish speakers in this country could be counted on the fingers of one hand; thus, there is, to my knowledge, no Turkish language liturgy celebrated in the U.S. Just Greek and English.

Thank you for your answer Dr John.
I suposed it was difficult to find parishes like that (I told her it was almost impossible), in Turkey's cathedrals, Greek Orthodox liturgies are celebrated in Greek and Turkish, but in the regular parishes the services are in Turkish.

Could you procure some tapes from her of the liturgy in Turkish?
Although the T---- people destroyed our Church 99%, I love languages and would be interested in the sound of a liturgy in Turkish.

I'll try to contact her, the one who's close to me is her sister, she's currently in Ystambul and I have not been able to contact her. I remember that in one internet page I found an audio file of the Ectenia Mare in Turkish, I'll try to find it again.
The situation of the Greek Turks is very curious. Her familly name is Iordanikou but the government changed it to Iordanikoglu. In the villages they are forced to have Turkish in the services (now they prefer Turkish).
Turkish liturgies are avaible in Moldova, where the gagauzian population is Turkish but Orthodox in faith.

Afedersiniz. Nerede Turkce Ortodoks Muzigi alabilirim? I found this thread topic interesting, because have been doing research on the Internet, trying to find out where I might obtain Byzantine Liturgical chant and/or a Divine Liturgy book in Turkish. I have sent out a couple of e-mails, including one to an Ethnomusicologist, but have not received a response yet. If anyone has information on purchasing Turkish Liturgical music or a Divine Liturgy book printed in Turkish, I would appreciate you sharing it with me. Chok Teshekkur ederim.
