I prefer to think of this area as the Near East and further over as the Middle East. Indian movies were very popular among Greeks/Cypriots in UK for the music. It is certainly catchy and uplifting music. Just add food and retsina and I am happy. Oh! and good company. biggrin

Dear Greggy,

Sorry that I haven't said this earlier, but welcome to the forum! smile

Are you a native New Yorker or are you studying here? I visited Cyprus last year (Limassol) and it was very nice!

Titan is a great place to shop for food! We are about 40 minutes away, and every once in a while we make the trek to buy their excellent feta cheese and a couple of other things.

The last time we went there, there was a huge tour bus double parked under the elevated train tracks infront of Titan, which was blocking traffic. We thought it was a curious sight, until we saw a priest come off the bus with about fifty people! Not being one to let my curiousity get the better of me, I asked one of the ladies where they were from...they were from Northern Connecticut and this was a church organized day trip!

All my husband could think to say was "hurry up and order the cheese, because I don't want to wait in line behind fifty other people"...LOL! I hate to admit it, but he definitely had a point. We hurriedly bought what we had set out to buy, paid, and were thankful that we beat what would have turned out to have been a nightmare at worst and a lesson in patience at best!

In Christ,
Alice smile

Doc,

You know you really have to learn patience wink . I'm assuming that you are featured in some of the photos along with your young son? The icons look marvellous.

Nope, that's Uncle Ryan, my "little" brother. My wife, oldest son, and my brother are in those pictures. I will post some more that I took today of my wife, my son, and my youngest daughter later. My face will be obscured for the time being... wink

Doc,

Are you trying to take lessons from our Incognitus?

Thanks, she truly is. She'll be very glad to know that she was complimented. As Chris Rock said, "Women need 3 things to live; food, water, and... compliments!" biggrin

Oh yes,

Actually, I will probably post my senior picture from High School. If I'm Canonized, that's the likeness that I want written into my Icon. biggrin

Dr. Eric,

If you truly want to be like our beloved Incognitus, you could have taken a photo with a paper bag over your face! biggrin

Doc,

You are going to have to use the way I showed you. Otherwise, Incognitus has more of an image than you do. biggrin

Back to food........

All Saints Greek Orthodox church in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania is having its Greek Food Fest June 5 through June 9.

Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic church in Scott Township, Pennsylvania is having its Lebanese Food Fest June 22 through June 24.

Maybe The Byzantine Forum should have its own Food and Food Festival Forum?

As for a picture of me...check my avatar. cool
