I get it, I just don't think it's funny.

This board, in many respects, rises above the childish and un-Christian behavior that we see, say, on the Orthodox-Forum, where His Grace, Bishop Tikhon (DOW) is the favorite topic for denigration. I would suggest that your comments are wildly out of place because 1) you do not know the man, and 2) you're not in the OCA.

Strongly agreed.

Have people here been following closely enough to know that the audit is complete and there is no evidence of any illicit wrong doing.

Given the false attribution and presumption and the objectively sinful behavior on the part of a self-appointed Internet lay vigilate group, I would say that in the immediate moment Father Thomas's efforts toward ecclisiastical spiritual direction were aimed in the wrong direction.

Dear Friends,

All things considered, and given the sensitive nature of all of this, perhaps we can all just agree to cease posting on this topic and let the OCA sort it out by itself?

I think that is the greatest vote of support we can give the OCA and also to Catholic-Orthodox relations!

Christ is Risen!

I have to agree with Alex on this. Though there is nothing offensive in this thread at the moment, I can not see closing it off.

BUT, there are many things that have to be sorted out in this area. Most of which is not public for a variety of reasons. Our opinions really do not help in any way in helping them find resolutions. Let things iron themselves out and then if the issue warrants discussion, then we can do it in an informed manner.

I would strongly urge that this thread be left alone for the time being so that breathing room can be given for the issues to be worked out.

In the Risen Christ,

Thank you, Father Anthony.

We have lost a lot of people in my OCA parish. I do hope that they have not lost the faith, but are simply moving due to retirement, etc.

We do need to pray as going public about church affairs does not help the parishioners.

It seems that three major Orthodox jurisdictions in the United States have recently suffered from this disinformation campaign on the part of a dissatisfied few. This is not right.

Please pray for us.

Lovingly in the Risen Lord Jesus Christ,
Elizabeth Maria

Dear Friends,

Actually, my parish did something rather ingenious . . .

People were retiring and moving up north to a cottage area and so . . . my parish built another mission parish up there to serve their needs as well! Both are flourishing quite nicely!

Like bees, they follow the honey . . .

Wonderful idea. Now perhaps they should invest in a retirement home like a few parishes do. Afterall, we have a large older generation which needs to be pastored.

Many Greek and Antiochian Orthodox Parishes are buying and/or building retirement homes next to the Church and it is a wonderful ministry.

Some of the yayas prefer to have their own apartment.

Kinda wonder. The early church had convents of widows who would help with the church ministry. Too bad some of these retirement homes couldn't be turned into monastic communities for older women.
