Besides in Southern Italy and Sicily?

I don't mean the major churches who have Byzantine architecture with the Latin Liturgy but something akin to the BCCA and the UGCC or the Melkites that we find in the USA. Do the Italo-Greeks have churches in higher latitudes than Naples in Italy?

Well, there's Grottoferrata of course, which is near Rome, and inside the city itself there's the Russicum.

Santa Sofia a Via Boccea in Rome, which I believe was constructed by Patriarch Josef Slipyj during his Roman exile.

There are several dozen Greek-Catholic churches of various backgrounds in different places throughout Italy - I've been after Bishop Hlib to publish a list of the Ukrainian ones. There's now a large Romanian presence in Italy, so it would be surprising if the only Romanian church in Italy was the church at the Romanian College in Rome.

In Rome itself there are quite a few more than those thus far mentioned. The oldest still-functioning Greek Catholic church in the city itself is Saint Athanasius, across a small street from the Greek College.

Ironically it seems the only venue in Rome to attend a regularly celebrated Traditional Mass (and all the other Sacraments) is San Gregorio dei Muratori on Via Leccosa.

Not for long, though, it seems!

In Rome there are lot's of Eastern Catholic Churches, ad instance:

- Greek: Chiesa S.Maria Cosmedin, piazza S.Maria Cosmedin - Liturgy Sunday 10.30 See the wonderful photo of this very ancient church, always been of the Eastern Rite: [Linked Image]
- Ucrainian: Chiesa di Santi Sergio e Bacco, Piazza Madonna dei Monti, 3 - Liturgy Sunday 09.00 and 17.00 - photo: [Linked Image]
- Syrian: Chiesa S. Maria in Campo Marzio, Piazza Campo Marzio, 45 -Liturgy Sunday 10.30, photo: [Linked Image]
- Maronites: Chiesa San Marone, Via Aurora, 6 - Liturgy Sunday 10.30
- Armenian: Chiesa S. Nicola da Tolentino, Salita S. Nicola da Tolentino, 17 - Liturgy Sunday 11.00 - photo: [Linked Image]
- Ethiopean: Chiesa S. Tommaso in Parione, Via Parione, 33 - Liturgy Sunday 10.30 - photo: [Linked Image]

There are other native East-catholic churches in North Italy, as the Armenian Church of San Lazzaro in Venice, see the photo [Linked Image]

I think that you are interested only in Byzantine rites: in some North Italy towns there is every Sunday a Byzantine Liturgy, but usually in Latin churches, as the Divine Liturgy in the Church of San Maurizio in Milano every Sunday (but very Summer) at 10,30,where I sometime attend, see the photo:

And of course there are many not-catholic Eastern churches also in North Italy (mainly Romenian), usually in building given in use by the catholic latin dioceses, (a good list is here [moldweb.org]) as the one in Via De Amicis Milano: photo [Linked Image]

Indeed, thank you for the photos antv. I love your beautiful country!

I was watching a show yesterday, and apparently there is a beautiful Serbian Orthodox cathedral in Trieste.

In Christ,
Alice

Would you believe there is also a significant presence of Old-Ritualists (from the Metropolia of Bila Krynytsia) from Romania in Italy these days? There was at least one priest ordained for them a couple of years ago.
