Three months ago I went to a very common sense ketogenic diet similar to atkins/south beach.

I eat lean proteins, high fiber whole grain breads, snack on nuts, boiled eggs, celery, bacon I have pre-cooked, sugar free gelatin, low-carb yogurt, sugar free pudding made with heavy cream, pickles, olives, green peppers, low-carb bread with sugar free Jelly _ peanut butter, diet fruit sodas with two tablespoons of heavy cream, etc. Atkins snack bars. Green tea with Splenda is fine.

NO, low-carb does NOT mean "all bacon and cheese, all the time" Most nights I eat spinach salad for dinner with just about everything in it from chives, to mushrooms, to peppers, pepperoncini peppers, olives... you can add varieties of cheese, ham, tuna, bacon bits, eggs, any combo...

No booze, lots of water. Coffee in moderation.

Every 5-7 days eat whatever the heck you want. (you will be pleasantly suprised that you crave some healthier carbs like fruit!).

I live 2 miles from my day job, so I walk to work every day, back and forth.

38 pounds later, I am happy with how I feel, how I look, and the clothes I can fit in again.

one thing that's helped me is foregoing elevators for stairs. years ago i read that one flight of stairs burns the same number of calories as the equal distance flat.

David have you ever measured the miles of day you walk taking care of patients? It has to be an amazing amount of travel on a daily basis.

unfortunately even bedside nursing doesn't burn that much...it's mostly walk a few feet and stop, walk a few feet and stop.

Did someone say Chocolate. It must be getting close to Christmas and the St Thomas Fast pre Christmas Fast for that topic to come to the surface again.
