I just posted a news bit about our new location in Hayward. But, as I pondered the link I gave to our website https://steliasmelkite.org/
it occurred to me that some might be shocked by the lack of pews. Are any other parishes doing this? See the slide show on our website main page where you can see the first Sunday and no pews!

Christ is in our midst!!

Father Sebastian,

Father bless!!

Welcome to the forum. God grant you many years in His service.

In answer to your question, there is a Ukrainian Catholic parish in Canada that is without pews.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

St. Basil's Ruthenian Church in Irving, TX does not have pews either. I truly do miss that... I hate pews! LOL
Hoping to find a parish here in Michigan that doesn't have any one of these days.

Holy Angels in San Diego removed pews for a period of time, but now they have gone back to that western way. Oh well.

Why do so many priests and bishops allow this kind of protestantization in our churches? It's not even a latinization, it's a full on protestantization! Throw out 90% of the pews and keep a handful to place around the interior along the walls and leave the entire center open for people to stand and freely move about for worship, making prostrations, standing together as one, etc. In the Ruthenian Church there is so much stand then sit stand then sit I feel like it has been influenced by the changes the Latin Church made with the Novus Ordo. And that's not a good thing.

One Sunday, after Divine Liturgy, I was helping +Fr. Michael and he suddenly asked me

"Eddie, what are pews good for?"

"I don't know, Father."

"FIREWOOD!!!"
