Albania

The Church in Albania is presently organized under the Apostolic Administration for Southern Albania (Albania Meridionale). The Apostolic Administration is, de jure, a Byzantine canonical jurisdiction but exercises ordinary authority over and pastoral responsibility for Latin Catholics resident within its geographic bounds. The Apostolic Administrator is a Byzantine hierarch, but is not himself of the Albanian Greek-Catholic Church.

Currently, there is only a single parish of the Church in Albania committed to the pastoral care of Albanian Greek-Catholics and serving according to the Byzantine Rite. The remaining parishes ascribed to the Apostolic Administration, together with their faithful, are of the Latin Rite.
