Kyiv – For the last 120 years, thousands of Ukrainians have left Ukraine in search of a better life. In recent decades, the phenomenon of emigration has gained special topicality. In such cases, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) has stated that it has to take spiritual care of these people. Therefore, starting from St. Andrew’s Day, 13 December, to the Sunday before Christmas, 6 January, the UGCC will collect money in order to ensure spiritual care for Ukrainian emigrants. RISU’s Ukrainian-language site posted the news on 17 December 2007.

Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), head of the UGCC, called upon the faithful in Ukraine to think about the needs of Ukrainian emigrants and support the collection.
