San Diego, May. 12, 2008 (CWNews.com) - Chaldean Catholic Church leaders in California have welcomed a bishop of the Assyrian Apostolic Church into full communion.
Bishop Mawai Soro had been disciplined by the Synod of the Assyrian Apostolic Church because of his public defense of papal authority. The Assyrian prelate responded by seeking communion with the Chaldean Catholic Church, together with his flock in California.
The Rorate Caeli blog reports that 3,000 people joined the Assyrian bishop and several other clerics in entering into full communion with the Chaldean Catholic Church.
