CWNews.com - The annual ecumenical dialogue between the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and representatives of Oriental Orthdox churches took place in the Bronx on September 20 and 21. Participants discussed efforts by evangelical and Pentecostal groups to seek Catholic and Oriental Orthodox converts.

The six Oriental Orthodox churches are distinct from the Eastern Orthodox churches of the Byzantine tradition. The former ceased to be in communion with the Holy See following the Council of Chalcedon in 451, while unity was ruptured with the latter in the Great Schism of 1054.
