CWN - Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Raphael Luis Sako I is urging Christians not to leave Iraq, and asking Catholics to help families in need, the AsiaNews service reports.
In northern Iraq, battered by the spillover effects of a Shiite-Sunni conflict in neighboring Syria, many villages have lost access to water, electricity, and medical care. The Chaldean Patriarch has asked parish groups to send aid to the afflicted villages, making it possible for families to remain there. Hundreds of families have already fled the region for security in other countries.
