CWN - The leaders of all of the autocephalous Eastern Orthodox churches will gather at the headquarters of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople from March 6 to 9.
The Interfax news agency reported that “the meeting will address issues relating to the preparations for the upcoming All-Orthodox Council and the situation of Christians in the Middle East. The All-Orthodox Council has not convened for more than 1,000 years.”
Patriarch Kirill I of Moscow, the head of the largest Orthodox church, expressed disappointment that the meeting is taking place during Lent.
