CWN - The bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church-- the largest Eastern Catholic church in full communion with the Holy See-- are urging the clergy to pray for, and the faithful to take part in, the May 25 presidential election.
The bishops called upon candidates to “act honestly, transparently and responsibly” and “not use loud, hollow, and deceptive slogans, but present a truthful program of necessary reforms in Ukraine,” according to a report from the Religious Information Service of Ukraine.
Exhorting members of election commissions “not to become co-authors of fraud or manipulation,” the bishops said that “no one-- either in Ukraine or globally-- should have any doubts regarding the respect of democratic principles.”
