CWN - Many Christian and Yazidi refugees in northern Iraq are at increasing risk of death from starvation, thirst, and exposure to the elements, the Assyrian International News Agency reported.
Refugees who have fled to Erbil, the city of 1.5 million that is the capital of the semiautonomous region of Kurdistan, have received adequate assistance. Many, however, have fled to Dohuk, a city of 350,000, and Dohuk “does not have the infrastructure to service the refugees,” according to the report.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the Sunni jihadist group that now controls approximately one-third of Syria and Iraq, continues to plunder the homes that the refugees have abandoned.
